Dicen que Martín enloqueció de amor por Rosita y dicen también que mató a un hombre Ane has just turned twelve and her parents give her some surprising news: her grandfather on her father s side, lives in a fishermen s village in the north and his name is Martin; grandfather Lucas (already deceased) was his father s adoptive father; grandmother Rosita was already pregnant by another man who abandoned her (Martin) when she married Lucas. The reason for this desertion is mysterious.
After all this news, that very same year during Holy week, Ane s parents decided to go and visit Martin for the very first time. Ane is very curious and her first impression of her grandfather is disconcerting: he isn t an old pirate with a pipe as she had anticipated, but an old man in very bad health and grumpy. Disenchanted, the granddaughter decides that her grandfather is demented, but there is something surrounding her which both attracts and repels her simultaneously. During that Eastern Ane listens to some other rumors which leave her even more intrigued. It was said that Martin went crazy over Rosita and it is also said that he killed a man
